Oblada Hemp Denim

Denim using hemp for the weft is an original material developed by Oblada at the time of the brand's foundation.

I knew the director of Oblada, Mr. Someya, from his previous job (he was the director of a popular womenswear brand for 20 years), but I had never met him before.I sympathised with his workmanship and visual direction.

I was introduced to him through a mutual acquaintance and visited his shop in Yoyogi-Hachiman Tokyo in spring this year.

Despite meeting each other for the first time, we had a lively conversation and decided to start making things together.

If so, what we want to make are items using that denim.

His main collection offers women's high-waisted trousers and skirts, so men can't wear them in larger sizes.

So we decided to create a new pattern for men.

The model we used as a reference was the 70s zip fly model.

The crotch is a little shallow and the waist is clean, so you can wear them just right, but we also recommend that you inch them up and wear them at the waist.

I can wear a 32 just size, but I wear a 34.

The hems are a little short, which also seems to suit this denim.

This denim has a shape that falls relatively flat towards the bottom, without the characteristic stiffness.

Therefore, we recommend hemming the jeans just right or shorter rather than letting the fabric hang at the hem or rolling them up.

The color is a very bright blue and reminds me of that national brand's 3D-cut series from the early 2000s.

The first model of that model had a hemp denim as well, didn't it?

But I bought the cotton model...

The white fibres you can see on the surface of the fabric will gradually fall off and become less noticeable as you wear and wash them.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how the denim will look.

Lastly, this denim has been one-washed, so there is almost no major shrinkage after washing, but it is still denim, so please expect around 1 cm shrinkage.

I also put them in the dryer at the laundromat, but they didn't shrink that much.

The size range is marked as 32, 34 and 36, but this is for the non-washed state, and the actual product will shrink from here. Please make sure to check the SIZE GUIDE on the product page.

The denim is a keylime classic that gives denim lovers a different feeling and can also be worn without stress by those who don't like denim.
