These special shirts are indigo-dyed and mud-dyed at Kanai Kogei on Amami Oshima. The process is indigo dyeing followed by mud dyeing.
First, the indigo dyeing is repeated 5-7 times while checking how well the colour is fixed. After the colour has stabilised, the shirt is dyed 10 times using the wheel plum, and then fixed 2 to 3 times using the chemical reaction in the mud to create a deep black colour on top of the indigo colour, creating a unique colour tone. Repeated wear will reveal the indigo colour of the black undercoat through friction and aging.
The shape of this S H standard shirt is based on the classic American regular-colour shirt.
The material is an oxford with the opposite number of beats in the warp and weft, which was specially produced for S H. The silhouette is not oversized, but rather a bit short.

This is the 2024 version of the shirt we produced in 2021 with so much care and attention to detail that it could be called a work of craft: we use a new fabric from S H Original and the same dyeing process. Each shirt is carefully dyed one by one, and like denim, the more it is washed, the more it will fade and become more attractive. We would like you to experience a shirt that you can truly love, unlike clothes that are just consumed.
