Dhal introduces authentic 15oz selvedge denim. Inspired by the classic straight-leg models of the 1970s, it features an extremely minimal design with no belt loops and matching color stitching. Despite the absence of loops, it offers an useful design adjustable with a drawstring. This concept originated from a story shared by Dhal's designer, Mizutani-san, who once found what she thought was a vintage gem at a thrift store, only to realize after purchasing that it didn’t have belt loops. With subtle stone-wash processing, these versatile jeans can also be worn like slacks.

Denim is one of my personal favorite items, so I try to select a variety of options at keylime Tokyo. How each brand approaches the restrictions of denim really showcases their creativity. In the case of Dhal, they’ve opted for a drawstring design without belt loops. Paired with same-color stitching, it has a minimal finish while still retaining a vintage feel. And of course, the greatest charm of denim is how it evolves over time. I’m excited to see how this pair develops as it ages.
