Amanusa & Bawa – A premio gordo Order Event

Hello everyone, this is Kubo from keylime Tokyo.

Starting tomorrow, Friday June 6th, we’ll be hosting an order event for premio gordo.

This marks the second time we’re holding a premio gordo order event at keylime Tokyo, following a successful turnout last year. In today’s Journal, I’d like to share more about the exclusive models and materials available for this special occasion.

Last year, we offered the opportunity to order the plain-toe “Bawa”—a collaboration between premio gordo and keylime Tokyo’s director Seki—in a cordovan upper, which many customers took advantage of.

This year, we’re introducing a new model to the lineup: the single monk strap “Amanusa,” a fresh addition to premio gordo’s collection. Customers will have the rare chance to order both “Amanusa” and “Bawa” in a luxurious suede from Italy’s renowned tannery, Ilcea.

This premium beige suede is produced by Ilcea, one of Italy’s leading tanneries. It features a refined nap and an exceptionally smooth texture—almost like silk—giving the suede an elegant and luxurious feel.

During this event, the new model “Amanusa” will also be available for order in the same beige suede. It features a minimal and elegant single monk design—true to premio gordo’s aesthetic—and is versatile enough to be worn across all seasons.

The U-shaped stitching on the upper features a “light angle” skin stitch—a technique where the needle never pierces through to the outer surface of the leather. This method is particularly demanding when done on suede, requiring even more advanced craftsmanship than on smooth leather. The result is a distinctive, three-dimensional finish that can only be achieved through meticulous handwork.

The sole of the Amanusa features a luxurious hidden channel construction. This detail, where the edge of the leather sole is lifted to stitch through and then folded back down to conceal the stitching, adds a refined sense of craftsmanship even from the underside.

As an optional upgrade, you can also add premio gordo’s original toe steel. This not only enhances durability but also gives the pair a distinctive look.

In addition to the featured beige suede, orders can also be placed in the inline calf colors—Black and Dark Brown.

Samples will be available in-store, offering you the opportunity to try them on before placing an order.

This time, the “Bawa” model is also available for order in the same beige suede.

“Bawa” is a collaborative model created together with keylime Tokyo director, Seki.

This design features a slit welt—a typically casual element with an L-shaped wall that runs along the perimeter of the shoe—but here, the welt has been trimmed down to the very edge of the sole, creating a refined, dressier impression that’s rarely seen. The concept was inspired by a pair of vintage service shoes of unknown origin, discovered in a corner of a workshop in Asakusa. The result is a low-profile silhouette with a flat, compact form and a narrowed waist, offering a distinctive shape that sets it apart from conventional Japanese dress shoes.

Another unique detail is director Seki’s choice to finish the “Bawa” model with flat laces in an overlapping style—a small touch that blends casual with dress elements. (Of course, the lacing can be adjusted to your preference.) The result is a standout pair that carries a rugged, American-inspired charm, yet showcases the refined craftsmanship and quality of Japanese shoemaking.

We have no doubt that the “Bawa” in beige suede will have you wanting a pair for yourself. In addition to the beige suede, orders in classic black calf are also available.

Please note: due to its construction with an oiled bend leather sole, toe steel and half rubber sole options are not available for the “Bawa” model.

Amanusa ¥132,000 (tax included)

(+¥8,800 for original toe steel, +¥4,400 for half rubber sole)

Bawa ¥126,500 (tax included)

Delivery is scheduled for late December.

We kindly ask for a 50% deposit at the time of order, with the remaining balance to be paid upon delivery.
