A New Beginning: CIOTA at keylime

keylime Tokyo reopened on January 4th, and this marks our first Journal update of 2025. For our first recommendation of the new year, we’d like to introduce the New Straight 5 Pocket Pants from CIOTA, which we started offering in-store last December.

Some of you may already be familiar with CIOTA, a brand born in Okayama, the heart of Japan’s denim industry. Beloved by denim enthusiasts, CIOTA is renowned for its meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail. One of its standout features is the use of Suvin cotton, a premium fabric known for its delicate and soft texture that evolves beautifully with wear, captivating many fans.

The New Straight 5 Pocket Pants utilize raw denim that has not undergone starch removal or shrink-proof processing. This allows for natural shrinkage and twisting, enhancing the authentic character of the fabric and bringing out the true essence of denim. The pants feature a silhouette with a moderately roomy thigh that tapers straight down to the hem, drawing inspiration from vintage designs of the 1970s.

We offer two colors for this item: Navy and Medium Dark Blue (Damage), available in five sizes: 28, 30, 32, 34, and 36. The Medium Dark Blue (Damage), in particular, showcases CIOTA’s expert craftsmanship, with meticulously recreated fading and distressing that exudes the charm of vintage denim.
